Don't Forget!

Help me give my students the opportunity to learn through play! By practicing addition, number recognition, creating letters and words as well as sharpening reading skills, I hope my students will be better prepared for 1st grade!

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Holmes's classroom raised $333

My Students

My students are enthusiastic learners; however once we left the school environment due to Covid 19, many of them were unable to continue their daily learning. Some students were sent to live with grandparents while their parents, who were deemed essential, had to continue working and could not afford childcare. Often, these grandparents did not have wifi access or technology for the students to use. Some of my students did not have parents with transportation and could not get to the school to pick up paper learning packets. I am very worried about my students' readiness for 1st grade!

Young children learn best by doing, and my students do not have adequate developmental materials for learning at home.

I would like to be able to provide them with some tactile, fun and relevant supplies that will help prepare them for the rigor of 1st grade.

My Project

It is my hope that with the availability of these materials, students will engage in activities that help them remember everything they learned this school year in kindergarten. Cards and dice are for number recognition, simple addition and subtraction games we learned, as well as for more/less concepts. Playdoh is for fine motor skill development (finger strength) and can be used to create 3D shapes, snake letters and even sight words. The workbook will review many of the reading strategies and phonics skills we learned to keep them prepared for the rigor of 1st grade.

Developmental play and hands on learning are the best means for young students to learn.

Please help me help them not to forget all we learned this year!
