Don't Be So Dramatic!

My Students

I have a group of thirteen amazing three-year-old PreK students. We are located in a small rural district in northeastern Oklahoma. The majority of the schools in our district are Title I. Our community has a very high Native American population, as it is the home for nine Tribal Nations. Many of my students are experiencing being in a school setting for the first time. We are preparing them and building a foundation for them to continue to become successful scholars.

My Project

This project will bring in some fun to our growing Dramatic Play center. We currently have some Christmas Cookies, a coffee set for our Donut Shop, a couple of odds and ends, and a new kitchen. We want to make it fun and engaging!

We need some new costumes, some more food and a dress up center, to make our dramatic play more engaging.

Dramatic Play helps develop social, emotional and cognitive development. I feel the most important part of dramatic play is fostering their emotions. They are able to better express their anger, frustration, happiness and joy through play. They may not have the words, but they can express their feelings through their play.
