My Project

I teach 7th-grade math, both honors and special education. I always love the determination and drive my students have in my classroom. However, I have found over the years that regardless of the level, students are afraid of fractions and decimals.

I am hoping with the help of fun math games, dice, and manipulatives, this fear can disappear.

I want my students to look at a problem that contains parts/wholes and have the confidence to solve it, not feel that pit in their stomachs telling them they can’t do it.

This project's goal is to help create a “love for math” environment where students will learn how to manage that fear, gain confidence, and learn all at the same time. I want them to NOT be afraid to slice and dice those fractions!
