Help me give my students access to written materials and classwork during reader's and writer's workshop and to share their work with their classmates.
My students are diligent, inquisitive, and kind! My classroom is a kindergarten integrated co-teaching (ICT) classroom, where approximately one-third of my students are special needs. Our school is a Title 1, meaning the majority of our students come from low-income households. Our school is located on the north shore of Staten Island, New York. My students come to school everyday ready to learn new things! Our students are diverse in so many ways, including academically.
My kindergarteners benefit from hands-on, engaging activities and learning environments that allow them to explore and think deeply.
While all of my students are avid learners, they all have different needs and pathways to success. In each lesson and activity that occurs throughout the day, my co-teacher and myself find strategies and materials to ensure that we are meeting the needs of all learners. They all exhibit a true passion for learning, and they make my passion for teaching grow stronger each day.
My Project
A document camera would aid all of my kindergarteners during Reader's and Writer's Workshop. This document camera can plug directly into my laptop and project a live image of a document. Similar to a projector, the document camera enlarges the document, providing access to all students simultaneously.
The document camera would provide me with a way to instantly project a document so that all of my students can see the document from wherever they are seated in the classroom.
My students are such eager and passionate learners. If funded, I plan to implement this tool in my classroom immediately. I plan to utilize the camera to project student work as well, helping them to peer- and self-assess their work.
