This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My second graders are a group of inquisitive students who are always excited and motivated to learn in a Spanish Dual Language Program. The students in my classroom come from a variety of backgrounds both culturally and economically. The diverse group supports one another in learning Spanish and English in all content areas. I teach at is a Title I and PHABAO school where there are limited resources and have limited funds to cover extracurricular activities that support our curriculum.

My Project

Teaching from home has been a life-changing experience for all educators, children, and their families. We have had to adjust to many different ways of presenting our teaching material and making it accessible to our students.

Closing the 2019-2020 school year through long-distance gave me the opportunity to explore many different ways of presenting lessons.

I have had to find different ways to present resources and not all the ways I have attempted have been successful. I think my students would benefit from having me present material using a document reader. It would assist in displaying my textbook materials and worksheet materials more clearly for all my students to be able to read and access. The whiteboard is also another necessary tool that I need at home so I can have a place to write and display written instructions to my students. Having both of these tools will offer my students better access to their learning and make it more visible for them to read.

Exploring different tools is what led me to realize that having a document reader and whiteboard would be beneficial for long-distance teaching.
