My students need a document camera to bring literacy works to life on the screen.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. McHale's classroom raised $455

My Students
My energetic, second grade class of 24 thrives with the use of technology in the classroom and they are eager for more. Improving literacy learning conditions, with the use of a document camera, will open the lens in which students experience learning.
Coming from literacy deprived households, but greatly influenced by technology, the students' needs call for a balance within the classroom.
The best approach is to take our literacy across reading, writing and phonics onto the big screen.
Like viewing a movie in the theater, students like seeing their work come to life. A document camera will help our classroom stories and projects come to the big screen.
Student smiles are never been bigger than when seeing their work displayed. This excitement will be extended when students can see their work displayed on the board through use of the document camera.
My Project
With a class of 24, getting all students a clear view of the shared reading book is difficult. A document camera will provide a larger, clearer view of the book, its words and pictures as we focus on comprehension skills, vocabulary words and sentence structure. Classwork and editing will take an interactive approach as students will have eyes on the task being performed, participate in instruction and walked through the steps of new strategies. With a shortage of workbooks and student anthologies a document camera puts a "page" in front of all students, eliminating an unneeded reading challenge in the classroom.
Consequently, the document camera will provide them with the exposure to the vocabulary, literary elements and informational texts that they need to be successful.
Many of my students come in as below level readers and a piece of technology, like the document camera, will enhance their reading experience as they work to become life long readers and learners.
