This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My First Graders come to school ready and eager to learn on zoom every day. Our district has started an Online Academy for families who prefer to distance learn all year due to illness, families at risk or personal preferences. We still provide them with the same education and rigor. Since we are piloting this new program, we are in need of a few essential supplies.
My students come from various cultural and socio-economical backgrounds in the Brea area.
Our school serves students in grades TK-6th. Our teaching staff and community provide a safe learning environment for students to learn and thrive. We are a small school with a big heart. Our teachers are dedicated to making this years experience positive for all students and families.
My Project
First Graders learn most from modeling and examples. Providing a document camera will be helpful for them to see what the teacher is doing. It will give them visual examples of how to complete their assignments.
A document camera is especially important for writing.
First graders are beginning to write more. They rely on proper modeling of letter shapes and writing components. By showing them proper ways to write, it will improve their writing skills. A document camera will provide my students will a clear example. The camera will be able to show live writing examples for students to immediately see and practice on their own at home. Students need to practice on paper and write with their hands in order to improve and strengthen their fine motor skills. The document camera will be so helpful in all subject as well.
