Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are great. They love learning, and they enjoy coming to school. My students are mostly immigrants or children of immigrants. Many are English language learners (ELLs). Nearly all students at my school receive free or reduced-price lunch because their family household incomes are below the poverty line.

My school is a large, crowded school in a very large urban district.

This past year, we have had a lot of budget cuts. Several staff from our school were cut. Most of our budget has been used to keep the teachers and staff that we do have. Even though the school has limited resources, students have some of the highest test scores in the area.

My Project

My students have been remote for over a year. Students are just starting to return to the class for hybrid instruction. As students are returning, we are beginning to need more paper for written and hands-on assignments. The paper will be used to print booklets, worksheets, and games for in-person students.

Both remote and in-person students will benefit from a document camera.

The document camera will help students see what the teacher is writing whether they are socially distant in the classroom or working remotely at home. It will also help students see what to do for hands-on projects. This document camera will help my students understand directions and practice their writing while following along with the teacher.
