This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are diagnosed with autism and other disabilities. They each face challenges brought on by their diagnosis every day and struggle to communicate. Most of my students come from low-income areas, get free lunch and some even use devices to communicate. Despite their disabilities, they strive and work hard every single day and come in with big smiles on their faces, eager, and ready to learn. My students are each very special in their own ways and I am determined to do whatever I can to help meet their unique needs.
My Project
Schools in NYC have gone fully remote yet again due to an uptick in COVID-19 cases. A document camera will help enhance our live instruction since all of my students are visual learners.
In our classroom, we use very rigorous curriculums that are not digital so we have to utilize textbooks.
Remote learning is not easy and I am always looking for innovative ways to help support my students and their different learning abilities. With a document camera, they will be able to read and see all illustrations clearly while remaining focused and engaged in the lesson.
