Document Camera and Whiteboard Markers for Eager Math Students
Help me give my students a document camera, so they can see exemplars of math problems as well as their classmates work.

My Students
Our middle school, a high-poverty middle school in southeast Charlotte, is one of the district’s most visible schools. As it grapples with poverty, diversity and academic achievement, the school has built a strong partnership with a local church, developed an award-winning robotics program and recently added a science and engineering magnet program. Though its test scores remain low, they have shown significant increases in the past 3 years. Many cite the school as an example of creative approaches to entice middle-class families back to neighborhood schools.
My students bring me the best they have every single day, and I want to give them the very best as well.
Thank you for your support. When we all work together, our kids benefit!
My Project
In my math classroom, I emphasize the 8 Mathematical Practices often. One of those is "Attend to Precision."
Students are eager to get their math problems, "just right," but need to be able to examine teacher exemplars and peer exemplars.
By having a document camera in the classroom, we will be able to do this daily. Currently, I use a lot of copies to provide students with exemplars, and that is not efficient, nor is it being a good steward to our environment.
I addition to the document camera, I have requested whiteboard markers. As a math teacher, I use more dry-erase markers than most other teachers. The markers are quickly used up and I often find myself completely out of dry-erase markers.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
