it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have the pleasure of being a Kindergarten teacher that services families all over the state of Florida through the Florida Virtual School Full-time Elementary program.
You may be wondering how Kindergartners do in the virtual learning environment.
Great Question! With a lot of engagement strategies put in place, parent involvement, virtual field trips, snack chats via Zoom, small group instruction, and FUN, my students take pride in all of their accomplishments and experience a lot of growth. They are truly amazing!
Something so wonderful about having students from all over the state is that, despite the miles between us, we truly become a really close classroom family. We get to celebrate our differences, learn from each other, and cheer each other on as we learn throughout the school year and beyond.
My Project
In Kindergarten, it is very important that students have clear visuals available to them when they are learning. This is even more important in the virtual learning environment. As of now, I have been holding up items to my laptop's camera to show my students during our live class times and have had a hard time getting enough lighting for the visuals to be clear.
A document camera and ring light will allow me to provide experiences in real-time for my students that are easy to see.
I will use the document camera to conduct science experiments, model writing, and solve math problems while using real-life objects and math manipulatives.
I know that adding a document camera to our virtual classroom will allow me to give my students more engagement opportunities.
