My Students
My students are an inclusive group of both general education students and special education students who have a range of needs and learning styles.
My students are eager second grade learners who miss coming to school!
Being out of school has really taken a toll on them, and the thought of going full remote this year is really impacting them socially and emotionally. My students are a mixed group of students with disabilities that impact their attention, focus, and ability to reach second grade standards.
These amazing students are visual learners, who learn best when they can connect to and relate to exciting lessons, and are motivated by hands-on experiences and tasks that help them develop their creativity and critical thinking skills.
My Project
Covid-19 has not made teaching easy, and my students are struggling. As we prepare to potentially go full remote again, I would like to have access to better technology, social-emotional mentor texts, and basic necessities while we are still in person (dry erase boards, lapboard stands, tissues, etc.). Having a clearer document camera will allow my students the ability to clearly see my modeled teaching, and help guide their learning in a crisper form. The whiteboards and lapboard stands will allow me to really hone in on a student's area of need and work with them one-on-one in the classroom. This tactile form of engagement is critical in helping my students become better learners.
I believe that in order to keep our students engaged, we have to make instruction fun!
Online learning can be hard and stamina is low among younger students. I am hoping that with these materials I will be better equipped to continue in-person blended learning or fully remote instruction.
