My Students
We are a small neighborhood Charter School. We only have two classes per grade level for a total of 220 students. We pride ourselves on focusing on the individual student and offering exciting learning opportunities in math and science.
It is a challenge to get students interested in learning.
These days students are so in tune with 21st century technology that this is the way to reach them!
Getting technology in the classroom can be a challenge and we need your help to make a change!
My Project
Creating examples to aid my students' understanding can be time consuming. Having a document camera in the classroom would make teaching my students a great deal more effective and easier to understand. It would allow me to make any page or object large enough for all the students to easily see. I would be able to model directly for them. They would be able to see my expectations so that they will feel confident and successful when completing assignments.
In addition, this would heighten the connections they make between verbal and written expression in all subject areas.
Another benefit of having a document camera in our classroom is that it cuts down on the number of copies needed to be made. With ever increasing budget cuts, we are constantly being asked to reduce our paper use. Instead of making 18 copies, I would be able to put the book directly on the overhead so that it could be seen clearly by all of the students. Over 180 days, this would greatly reduce copies.
A document camera in the classroom will enhance overall learning.
Also, students are excited by technology and will be more engaged in what is being taught beyond the books.
