My Students
"If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow." - John Dewey
As the Literacy Director I want to provide meaningful and motivating opportunities for all students to engage in learning.
I want all of the students at our school to love learning and engage in problem solving. Help me meet my goal!
In Kindergarten through 3rd grade we teach 300 diverse students. Our students live all over the state of Utah. They choose to attend our virtual school for many reasons including homelessness, chronic illness, academic struggles, anxiety, experiences with bullying, some are even training for the Olympics. They are eager to learn and discover the world around them. Their parents are doing everything they can to set their students up for success.
My Project
These doc cams will be used in our kindergarten through second grade classrooms, including special education and intervention classrooms. Teachers will be able to display books, manipulatives, and so much more using this doc cam.
One area that is really hard to teach virtually is early childhood education.
These doc cams will allow teachers to display various objects including books and manipulatives to engage students. Without a doc cam it is hard to demonstrate the correct way to read, where to start, and the direction to read. It is also hard to show students how to use manipuatives and letter tiles the correct way. The doc cams will open endless opportunities for our students and teachers.
More than half of students from low‑income households
