My students need 36 copies of the book, Island of the Blue Dolphins. We will be covering several of the Common Core literacy standards while reading this novel.

My Students

Some of my students have never read a novel from beginning to end, and I would love to share that experience with them while addressing many of the Common Core standards.

I have a class of thirty three students.

They are energetic, funny, and full of life. Right now, they have only had a chance to read and analyze selections from books. Our school works hard at instilling hard work and responsibility in our students to help them succeed in life.

My Project

My students will read the novel, Island of the Blue Dolphins, to build their literacy skills and understanding. They will be able to make logical inferences, cite evidence to support their thinking, determine the meaning of words and phrases, and to analyze characters.

Donations to this project will help my students in their love for reading.

I want them to be excited when they pick up a book and for them to understand that reading is a great learning experience. This book will only be a start to the many books they will read in the future.
