Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are 21st-century learners who are eager to use all of the technology available to them! I teach 30 curious fourth-grade scientists in a small, Title I school that has an amazing and supportive principal.
My students are eager to learn and their brains are sponges that absorb any and all information given to them.
Everything is a potential investigation or experiment to them, so I strive to provide my students with as many learning and project-based opportunities as possible. I constantly enhance the school curriculum and students' intrinsic motivation to learn more by infusing STEM correlations whenever possible.
Because of our small school size, funding levels are not as high as other schools in our area. Grants and projects like this one become an integral part of how I obtain resources to supplement learning experiences. I truly believe that the future lies in our children. They have virtually unlimited potential, and my job is to enable them to reach it.
My Project
My students love science! I integrate science throughout the curriculum so my students are able to see the real-life connections and how all things are related.
Scientists make careful observations!
This is the first "rule" I teach my students as we conduct investigations and explorations. I am requesting these powerful pocket microscopes because they are an instructional technology tool that will enable my students to not only observe objects but observe them at an astonishingly close level; one that will shock and amaze my students! This tool will allow my students to see beyond the surface level and utilize these microscopes all year to really see just how small items on Earth are.
