Do You Hear What I Hear?

My students need 15 headphones that will increase the effectiveness of many computer programs used in the classroom.

My Students

Imagine… 15 students at various levels trying to listen to instructions on a computer all at the same time without using headphones. It is impossible for the programs at my school to work effectively when all of my students are struggling to hear one sound in a pool of noise.

I teach a very appreciative group of 8th grade students with learning disabilities at a high-needs school in the inner city.

My students require special education services to make progress learning the general education curriculum. They benefit from receiving instruction that incorporates the use of visual, tactile, and auditory experiences. To meet their learning needs and prepare them for higher learning and career opportunities, they complete a large amount of their work on the computer.

My Project

If each of my students had a pair of headphones they would receive a personal learning experience in a large group setting. When creating a slide show, podcast, or even writing an essay, headphones would allow my students to hear individualized auditory tutorials. When following instructions or listening to a story on a computer program my students would stay focused and thrive in a calm learning environment.

All of my students come from families with a household income below the poverty line.

Very few have computers at home which makes my students well-deserving and very thankful for the resources given to them at school. They take very good care of the technology provided to them. Please make my students beam with excitement and donate headphones to our classroom!
