This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"You want ME to talk in front of the whole class?" I'm sure many of us can relate to the same feelings of anxiety and nervousness that often come with speaking in front of large groups. Many of my students feel this way not only because it scares them, but because they have a limited vocabulary.

A majority of the students in my 3rd grade classroom are English Language Learners.

They attend an Illinois Public School and come from low income homes. My students are dedicated to their learning and want to succeed academically. When speaking in front of the classroom, many students get frazzled and have trouble finding their words. My students need more opportunities to listen to fluent English speakers and build their vocabularies.

My Project

The vocabulary materials that I am requesting will be a great tool to use with my students during their center time. I know that these materials will keep the students' interest and allow them to build upon vocabulary skills that we are learning in class. Using these materials in our classroom's listening center will keep the students engaged. These vocabulary packets will provide the students with hands-on activities and give them the chance to develop and expand their vocabularies.

By supporting my project, I am confident that the materials I am requesting will be both engaging and beneficial for my students.

Using these materials during center time will enhance my students vocabulary skills and allow them a new way to complete vocabulary activities through our listening center. I want my students to leave 3rd grade with confidence and not be afraid to use new words when speaking and writing.
