My Students

Do you love to read? I want to instill a love for reading in my kindergarten students. We read a lot of books as a class, but I want them to experience reading in a small group setting and independently.

My students are fun-loving 5, 6, and 7-year old kids.

They love to play and have fun, but enjoy learning, too. I try to work the learning and the fun together whenever possible! They attend a wonderful school with loving teachers, faculty, and parents.

My Project

I do small reading groups daily. There are three teachers in my room at this time, so each teacher has a group and there is one group that works independently. I want this independent group to be able to listen to and read along with stories that may be above their reading level (which is sometimes non-existent at the beginning of the school year). We need six wireless headphones for our listening center. With these wireless headphones, my students will be able to listen to stories while looking at and reading the books, but will also be comfortable and not be worried about plugs coming unhooked, getting tangled in headphone cords, or having the sound too loud or too soft for each individual. Also, they will be able to use these headphones to read and experience interactive stories with iPads, iPods, and other handheld technology--without disturbing the rest of the class.

Donations to my project will enrich my students' reading time and will make it fun for them and less distracting for the rest of the class!

This project will help my kindergartners become better readers and enhance their love for reading.
