Do You Hear What I Hear? A Good Book!

Help me give my students these caliphone headphones so that they can listen to online stories. Hearing others read will help to improve their reading skills as well as their comprehension.

My Students

My school is in a high poverty, rural area of the south. Most of our students come from a low income home where there are little if any children's books and access to a public library is limited. My students love a good story and having another way to listen to reading will add to their library time.

Providing them with as many ways to listen to reading will be so impactful on their learning.

My students will use these headphones to listen to online stories as part of a center rotation during their library time. They will be so excited to have these cute headphones and all students will have the same access.

My Project

Listening to reading increases word exposure and improves vocabulary. When students are offered the opportunity to have audiobooks in the classroom, their world can finally open up. Having books read aloud helps these struggling readers move beyond the decoding and right into learning.

My students will enjoy being able to listen to stories online in the library!

Not all of my students have headphones to use. Having this set of 24 will allow every child to have the experience and benefit of listening to others read.

Having a class set of headphones that I can use for all of my 18 classes ( over 200 students) will be a valuable resource to enrich their library time.
