My Students

My classroom is full of many different types of students, including English language learners and special needs learners. These students have many different learning styles. My students are creative and full of ideas and questions. They enjoy partner work and group projects, as well as time to work independently.

My students come to school each day ready to learn and try new things.

Students enjoy having a variety of seating options to choose from when it's time to work independently or with others. Research shows that flexible seating options help children focus throughout the day. Students enjoy collaborating with a variety of classmates as they choose different seating options during each part of our day.

Students spend a lot of time in the classroom and meeting their learning style needs and allowing them to be move and be comfortable while they work is important. We currently have some flexible seating options in our room, but I am looking to add another option to meet the needs of my students who like to move while they work.

My Project

Flexible seating allows students to take responsibility for their learning and make the choices that allow them to do their best. During independent, partner, and group work times students are allowed to choose a spot in the classroom that works best for them. Students are able to choose from a variety of locations in our room such as: tables of different heights, scoop rockers on the floor, a bench seat, or a desk with a swivel chair. Making sure students are allowed to move and be comfortable is important to their learning. I have noticed a positive impact on my students when they are given a choice in their seating.

Students learn to make good choices about where they sit and are more focused and engaged in their work.

The Hokki stools that I have chosen will help my students by giving them additional seating options that allow them to move. These stools will be beneficial for students that just need to get their wiggles out as they work.

I have already seen how flexible seating options can positively affect my students. Having an additional option will help us grow even more!
