My Students

Do you remember your first time playing an instrument? Do you remember the excitement of learning your first song after countless lessons on holding/assembling your instrument?

My students are enthusiastic about music and look forward to their weekly music lesson.

The music program is completely funded by the PTA, providing music instruction for students in pre-K to 3rd grade. In order to see students weekly, classes are doubled and taught in a textbook stage room behind the school's stage. We currently do not have any instruments, white boards, or wall space to hang any music posters to assist with music instruction.

My Project

My students love to read and are very curious to learn the language of music. They learned their do - re - mi's and are ready to apply their skills to an instrument. Kindergarten students will keep a steady beat using tone bells. First and second graders will continue to use tone bells as they transition to the xylophone and mallet technique. In third grade, students will develop their fine motor skills while playing soprano recorder. All grades will have the opportunity to compose their own melodies and rhythms on mini white boards.

Students will benefit from a cylindrical curriculum that builds on previous learned skills using the instruments purchased. Students will also explore their creative minds as they improvise new melodies on their instruments and compose new melodies and rhythms using the mini white boards.
