My Students
There is something special about the students in my school and in my classroom. These students are independent, protective, and eager. Students whom I spend time with day in and day out, come from very low-income families and from very diverse backgrounds. These students need the support and rapport from the individuals who interact with them daily within the school community. Based on the high needs of these students, each school day can be challenging but rewarding.
Each student in my classroom is very eager to learn and to grow; however, with the challenges they face outside of the classroom, they need extra support within the classroom.
My Project
Students will be able to use these materials to enhance their learning of mathematics and connect their learning to hands on experiences. Students often struggle with critical thinking skills when it comes to math and by the use of hands on learning with these materials students can take their learning and make it concrete knowledge.
Students in my classroom learn best from hands on manipulatives and activities where they can interact with learning tools to make connections.
By allowing students to use these manipulatives and hands on learning experiences my students can build a solid foundation of mathematics at a young age that will follow them throughout their educational career.
