Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a middle school with 3,400 students. They have purchased some supplies at school, but there never seems to be enough money. I have 3 classes of 7th grade life science and 2 classes of 8th grade physical science.
I would like to get some research and investigation labs to assist my students with the understanding of DNA and genetics. I would like to purchase some science kits to do this.
I am in a small classroom with little room to move. I need to enhance my lessons with some hands-on investigations. To do this, I need some wonderful little labs that will simulate DNA extraction and some genetic identification.
My students will get the hands-on inquiry that hopefully will entice them for further investigation or on their own research.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
