Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have 25 Kindergarten students who are eager to learn! This is my fifth year teaching in a Kindergarten ICT classroom, which includes children with special needs, as well as general education children. Although I am a Kindergarten teacher, this project will be benefiting all students in our building!
Our school is located in the Lower East Side and about 50% of our children are currently living in homeless shelters.
This makes it very difficult to have access to many supplies necessary for our children to learn, because many times it is impossible to get donations from our children's families.
My Project
Do you ever look back at your yearbooks when reminiscing about your enjoyable moments in school? The yearbook committee at our school is continuously working on gathering information and photos to create lifelong memories for our students. Getting our yearbooks printed by a company is very expensive for our students who come from low income families.
Therefore, we have come up with another option which is to create and bind the yearbooks ourselves!
We believe this option would overall be more cost-friendly, and none of our students will be let down if they aren't able to purchase a yearbook. Every student in our school will be receiving a yearbook in which they'd have memories for a lifetime, for FREE! We'd appreciate all your support in helping our vision come true for our students!
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
