Help my Little Learners build a strong foundation toward reading success! In order to become a successful reader, students need access to materials that are fun, educational, and inspire creativity. Unfortunately, my students do not always have access to these types of materials.
My students are incredible!
More than 90% of them receive free or reduced lunch. Our school is very high-poverty. Each morning, my students enter the classroom already having faced more challenges then most adults. Despite this, they enter with a passion and tenacity for learning. They have not been overcome or defeated by the world around them. My students see each day as an opportunity to grow and achieve.
My Project
When learning to read, it is vital that students have a concrete knowledge and foundation of letter names, sounds, blending, and segmenting. Each day, my students develop these skills during our Daily 5 literacy time. However, some of our materials need replacing. By providing my students with new stampers, book boxes, notebooks, and a shelf to store them on they will have a wide range of engaging, educational, and inspiring activities to choose from.
My students have made tremendous gains this school year.
Many of them entered with an extremely limited knowledge of the alphabet. Now, they are growing into incredible little readers! It would be a disservice to these children to not provide them with materials that will continue to inspire and drive them in their quest for literacy! Please, help all of my students achieve literacy success!
