My Students
My students are six energetic, fun loving, kindergarten and first graders. They all have a diagnosis of autism and are working on becoming independent members of their community.
"If they can't learn the way we teach, teach the way they learn".
In our classroom, we work on academics as well as activities of daily living. We celebrate achievements no matter how big or small they may be. A little love and someone who believes in them is all they need.
My Project
Due to a diagnosis of low functioning autism, my students need a very structured learning environment. My students are easily distracted and overwhelmed in large noisy areas. The classroom we are currently in is is very spacious and wide open.
My students need smaller, more defined work areas to make effective progress.
These dividers will help define work areas and help students maintain focus. When my students are focused they can better achieve their goals.
My students need set boundaries when playing in the sensory area. The dividers will lay out a concrete area to where they can play.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
