My Students

My classroom is an active, vibrant, exciting place of learning, where students come to drink deep and leave full of knowledge. Help me to make their cups (and pints, quarts, and gallons!) overflow each day with a class set of an awesome book about division.

My students attend a small, inner-city, Title I school in South Carolina.

Our school, while filled with over 70% of our students receiving free and reduced lunch, strives everyday to push our students to new heights! We engage our students with the Arts, wow them with our curriculum, and put their hands on every lesson. They are curious learners...like little sponges, soaking up every bit of information I can give them. They LOVE science and social studies, but their favorite subject is math! I work overtime trying to go deeper and get more for their wondering minds.

My Project

Beginning division is such a difficult concept for third graders. They understand 2 equal groups, but 4,5,6,7, 8 equal groups throws them for a loop! I ran across the book, Divide It Up, the other day at a local bookstore, and I was convinced that it would help me teach the basics of division in a different way. My students LOVE to read. The book I am requesting walks children through division in a step by step way, and shows them pictures as they are reading that will help them to grasp the division concept. This book would be invaluable to my math curriculum. Help me get a class set of this book!

These books will be a crucial part of our math and literature integration.

They will help me to give students the extra time they need to explore the world of division. Please help my students to be successful by funding this project!
