it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a self-contained kindergarten, first, and second-grade classroom with differently-abled students. My students come to me from diverse backgrounds, and with different experiences. Being a public school in New York City, we are lucky to have many cultures and backgrounds within our school. We are a Title I school of about 900 children.
My kiddos face learning challenges as well as life challenges, and it is my goal and deepest hope that they are in a classroom where they feel cared for, safe, at home, and free to learn.
Kindergarten, first, and second grade are foundational years, and they are all about exploring and learning, becoming readers, writers, and mathematicians. We spend lots of time learning how to be good people and laughing.
My Project
I am entering my seventh year as a teacher, but the challenges that this new year brings make it feel like my first year. My classroom does not have individual desks for students - instead, we have tables.
There are so many things that I cannot control, but having these materials will allow me to control our spacing.
The partitions will divide the table and provide extra protection for each student. Each child will be given 2 hand sanitizers to leave in their desks to stay sanitized all day long.
