Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are from a low to high income households. They bring a special blend of linguistic diversity, background knowledge, prior experiences and culture to our school. We are a Title I school in a low-income community; I have thirteen Special Education students with varied abilities. Free breakfast and free lunch are available to every child in our building each day, which are now remotely served.
My students are creative, clever and very enthusiastic about learning.
The majority of my students read below grade level. They would benefit from a variety of classroom resources to help increase their success in our newly established distance remote learning platform. As of March 16th, my students began learning at home. School was closed due to the COVID-19 virus for the rest of the school year. This presents a challenge, as most of my students do not have access to supplies in their homes.
My Project
My amazing students are incredible hard working, creative, and enthusiastic learners. They have been learning distantly since March 16th. When school begins soon they will need materials to assist their learning and increase their knowledge of diversity. My learners benefit from listening, reading, and hearing books on all subjects.
This project will provide books and materials, so that I can use these amazing tools to assist my students with their remote learning experiences.
Once we excitedly return to school, my phenomenal special education and English Language Learner (ELL) students will benefit immensely by having books and materials in our classroom that is dedicated for read-aloud assistance, diversity, and translation services. These materials are essential to teaching diversity.
