Diversity is the Key

Help me give my students the opportunity to tour the African-American and Holocaust museums.

My Students

My students value culture, diversity, and history. Our club has a mixture of 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students with over 6 ethnic backgrounds. Students also promote monthly character education themes throughout the school to inspire other students.

My diverse group of students are curious about the present and how it connects with history and the future.

My students value hands-on learning experiences. During our meetings, it is student lead by discussion and debate about teen issues. Some students are shy and others are not shy. They balance out to fully encourage each other in a non-judgmental setting.

My Project

I developed a COLORS Club. (Culturally, Open-Minded, Learners, Of, Responsible, Students). My diverse group of students will tour advancements of art, music, food, dance, sports politics, science, and innovations from various areas of American and International history. Also, sacrifices from historical figures.

COLOR Club members will produce a slideshow with at least 5 aspects of 3 diverse cultures to share with the school 2019-2020.

By exposing students to a historical tour of diverse backgrounds, I want them to realize we have more in common than different as the human race. I hope students will learn not to judge people based on color or clothes, outward appearance. Character counts not race.
