This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a diverse group of students in an international middle school in Montgomery County. They come from a variety of backgrounds, each bringing their own unique stories to our class. I want to empower my students to be confident and successful, while embracing their cultural backgrounds.
My Project
It is important for students to be represented in the books they read. With this new library, students will see themselves in the books when reading about famous science events and scientists. This helps students to believe that they will one day work in STEM.
In addition to students seeing STEM role models that look like them in books, students who speak Spanish will now have access to Spanish STEM books that accurately represent them. Our students are capable of reaching the stars, we just have to show them that!
