This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Kindergarten students and I have navigated learning through this Pandemic and are a wonderful group of children. I have been very lucky to have this group of students for this unprecedeted school year. Most of them are second language learners and come from low socioeconomic backgrounds.

I teach Kindergarten at a Title I school in Southern California and they deserve the very best.

We are a school of very diverse cultures, ethnicities, and economic backgrounds. I would love to have the tools to offer the best on-line learning experience. My district will begin this year virtually and for the little ones who are brand new to being a student, this will be a difficult challenge for teachers, students and parents alike.

My Project

Students learn in different ways and many are visual learners and being able to see their curriculum in color will be most beneficial. I like to print out materials for my students to have at home, so they have the necessary materials to be used across the curriculum. So having enough ink for the printer, laminating their work to use over again, and making games/flashcards with these materials will make my students to be as successful as possible. We also do many projects that go along with money (printing out coins and bills), science, Language Arts, and the holidays which need to be printed in color, laminated, as well as using the velcro to make games and flashcards.

The impact of seeing their materials in color will only magnify their ability to be more engaged in their learning.

Students will be able to actually connect the color pictures to things in their classroom and at home. It is much more difficult to see the visuals when it is in black and white. They can have colorful resources to help them and their families practice what they learned at home. Many parents do not have the resources or reference materials to practice with their children at home. With the color ink, and protecting the materials with lamination, I will give the students and their families the extra assistance necessary for them to succeed in school and at home.
