This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school has a very diverse student population. With standard art supplies we have brown, black, white, and yellow. This does not offer a great variety of colors when students want to add color to a portrait. I would love to implement the "Colors of the World" sets that Crayola offers and give my students 24 different shades of beautiful skin tones so they can color themselves and their families in the exact shades of their unique skin tones. It is a great self-confidence booster and opportunity to create more accurate depictions of themselves and those they love most!
More than a third of students from low‑income households
