Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class is composed of 24 energetic, inquisitive, and curious students who love to read. Nothing excites them more than when I open up a box of brand new books. They have diverse interests and passions, so the more options they have for reading--the better.
100% of students at our school are eligible for the Free Lunch Program, and about 30% are identified as English Language Learners.
Despite these potential obstacles, my students are determined to make goals and to achieve them.
My Project
These books will make a difference in my students' learning. Students will be have access to these books during independent reading, and they will be able to take them to read them at home, too.
These books will promote diversity and acceptance of all people.
I will use these books as teaching tools to promote a love for reading, as well as to teach reading comprehension strategies (such as inferring and questioning) that will help students to better understand the texts. In addition, these books all fall under the theme of diversity that shows that people of backgrounds have so much to offer the world.
