We are the Superheroes and our goal this year is to continue to become super readers, while simultaneously focusing on becoming super citizens. Living in Contra Costa County we are fortunate to be surrounded by diverse cultures and languages. My class needs to be challenged and engaged with rich literature through mentor texts. I have selected culturally diverse, beautifully illustrated, and entertaining books for my students. The mentor texts will be paired with activities that will deepen comprehension, develop and expand vocabulary, and integrate language skills.
