My Project
As a School Counselor, I will be able to offer our Pre-K- 6th graders ways to personally identify with the presented materials for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, using the multicultural and rainbow crayons and colored pencils to create self-portraits. The calm strips will also benefit our students by accommodating kinetic learners with appropriate ways to keep their hands stimulated without distracting from our learning by digging in their desks or fidgeting with their coloring tools. We had been building off lessons of self-esteem and sharing perspectives last fall. Then we spent January studying MLK Jr, and look forward to celebrating Black History Month and President's Day by learning more about the icon historical figures who have shaped the . I know these supplies will help our students feel DEI components are being offered to them for their application of knowledge, while also allowing them to stay focused on the materials when they tempted to squirm and fuss in their desks.
