Help me give my students the opportunity to become wise activists who create a better world through Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are the most curious readers with an activist heart!
Through Literacy, my students are learning about Environmental Justice, a variety of ways to speak up about injustice, and they are going to take action to make their community and the world beyond a better place.
My Project
Inquiry-based learning is at the core of my instruction, and I asked my students a challenging question: How do humans and ecosystems impact each other in a variety of ways? This lead to a discussion about Environmental Justice, and how we could be incubators of change by using our voices. Although some students enthusiastically expressed interest in organizing a rally, I inspired the students to think about multiple ways to speak up. As a result, a rich discussion with wonderings about (local) laws, politics, and how to be an influencer immersed.
The books I selected will be used to inspire my diverse group of students to think about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, as the books display characters that they can identify with, and teach them through Literacy about ways we can use our voice.
Using Read Aloud strategies, students will be given the opportunity to express their thought through Performing Arts, Persuasive writing, or Virtual Presentations.
