This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have 22 wonderfully diverse students in my class this year speaking six different languages. I teach at a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math) Magnet school. My students come from various low-income backgrounds. All students at our school receive free and reduced-price lunch. My students are hard-working, sweet students that come to school ready to learn.
My Project
I am asking for multicultural books to use in my classroom to teach diversity and inclusion. Distance learning has kept many students home without access to libraries or reading material.
Having books about different cultures and people from various places around the world helps me to be able to teach my students about tolerance and acceptance.
These books will be used during our guided reading lessons in the classroom.
My classroom is very diverse. With six different languages and just as many cultures, it is important my students see themselves in print and are exposed to people from other cultures and places.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
