My Students
I have grades K-5 as a school librarian. I am continually working on increasing the love of learning in all of my students: anything from how to find books within the library system to lessons that go with popular read-aloud books while in the library.
They only get a limited time in the library and I want to make it as enjoyable of an experience as possible.
I encourage all of my students to find books that they will enjoy and help encourage them to read.
My Project
In today's time and day we are trying to expand our students mindset on diversity and what it means to be different and diverse. With everything going on in our world and society today some of these books will help our students understand diversity and some of the things people have had to go through to get where they are. They will also help teach some of our younger students that it is ok to be different and to embrace those things that make use different.
An imagination is a thing not to waste.
Some of the graphic novels and picture books will help our students escape into their imaginations. It allows them a place to escape and forget about what is going on in the world and just enjoy being a child. For some of our students it will also help them go into their imaginations to get their creative juices flowing to help with writing assignments and art projects. Reading is the stem of all things.
