My Students
My students enter the classroom everyday so eager to learn. They are inquisitive and creative. The students in my classroom come from a high-poverty area. Many of them were not afforded the opportunity to be surrounded by books during their early years.
Some students are still learning to read, while others have formed a love of reading.
Every student, no matter their skill level, looks forward to their time to pick out books from our classroom library each week. They are very eager to read to me and the other support staff in the classroom.
My Project
My students come from very diverse backgrounds. While our library allows for some diversity, it does not touch all cultures/lifestyles. Adding these books to our library will allow each of my students to have books that they can relate to in our own little library.
It is so important that each child sees themselves in our library books.
I strive to have a very inclusive classroom, not only culturally, but in all other aspects of the students lives. My students would greatly benefit from finding books that they can relate to that will further expand their love of reading.
