My Students
I teach a group of young women who are from many of the New York city boroughs and are dedicated to their mission to become educated leaders in their community. They aspire to become citizens who give back to their community and to reach out the other countries. I have girls who want to fight for women's rights and be advocates for the less fortunate. These girls want to be like our classroom leader Oprah Winfrey who speaks up for what is right. They make me proud everyday.
My Project
These books will create voracious readers and fulfill young reader's imagination. We will read some of these as whole group, some will be read in small reading groups. Some of these books will be checked out by a scholar and read at home and shared with their families.
I want to fill my classroom with Dear America, 39 Clues, and Awards and Honors books that offer rich and diverse characters that my students can connect to.
My scholars need to have the option to choose books with characters that they can identify with and feel a connection.
To watch my scholars turning the pages of these books and making connections from their own experiences is so important in third grade. Help me give these girls a library that they can get lost in.
