My Project

I serve and work in a community where a majority of students are immigrants or people of color. We celebrate cultures, diversity, and the stories of our families. I created this project with the hope of discussing our own stories through picture books and art.

Books like "We Are Water Protectors" and "The Together Tree" are some of the many books I have selected to share with students as we learn about celebrating race and representing our many backgrounds.

I love giving students access to book that discuss how we have grown to be more aware and proud of our various cultures.

I hope to also encourage students to be comfortable in their own skin through projects and art. Items like the Crayola Colors of the World Coloring Pencils. give students access to materials and that represent them and their skin.
