Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My group of 6th graders is extremely motivated and culturally aware of their surroundings. They enjoy read aloud and reading to self during independent reading time. They make connections with the stories and add their twist to the end as they predict a different ending to stories. Their sense of adventure and passion for reading is simply admirable. Reading has enabled them to visualize the stories and be able to integrate their background knowledge. They especially enjoy reading stories that they can relate to.
My Project
The books that are selected for this projects are based on our current events. These books will allow students to understand what is happening in our world today. Students will be able to have a better understanding and have an open mind and be mindful of others.
They deserve to be informed and be able to understand others.
I want them to be kind to others and they can only do that if they have the knowledge. They are our future and reading is essential to their comprehension of current events.
