This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are special education students who benefit from picture books. As you may be aware picture books tend to be more on the expensive side. Picture books help with teaching comprehension to younger children and students who struggle with the English langauge.

I want to give my students a wider variety of books to read.

I have students who read at the first grade level all the way up to students who read at the fourth grade level. Your donation will help promote the importance of reading and spread joy during the upcoming months.

My Project

These materials were chosen with the purpose of promoting diversity. In urban Phoenix, Latinos are the primary population I serve. I wanted books that more reflect the culture of the children to help with reading comprehension. Our students deserve diverse books. In addition, some of the materials will be used to help my students learn social-emotional skills on how to react when angry. My students would benefit from these books and they would enjoy having them in the classroom setting.

My students are diverse and need books that reflect who they are.

I care a lot about my students and am always researching different book and approaches to teach the love for reading.
