My Project
My students represent the many diverse faces of this world. Help me share more representative literature with my students so that every one of them can see themselves in our books and access them at their own reading levels.
Our school is a public school in a high poverty area, with a very diverse student population.
There are roughly 30 languages spoken in the homes of our students. Many of our students come from families struggling to meet even basic needs. Yet our students eagerly come in every day, ready for new discoveries and new challenges. Because of the positive attitudes towards learning that are being fostered here, our students fight hard to excel. I want them to have access to good quality books no matter their reading level. I want them all to feel represented in the books we share as a class, as well as those they checkout from our class library.
