My Project
These books will create a space for conversations around student's identity, culture, and autonomy. Furthermore, these books will empower my students to reflect on what they can do as advocates and allies to those who are different from them as they learn about each other.
Read-alouds will promote book discussions and conversations with students about identity, culture, inequality, equity, anti-racism, and implicit biases.
It is critical that we reflect and honor the identities and cultures of all young people through representation in books. Creating a space to hold these conversations and is critical in the classroom.
