Help me give my students the chance to see themselves reflected in novels to build their self-esteem, empathy and a love of reading. The more expensive graphic novels will also reach the struggling readers in my groups.

My Students
I teach at a North Carolina middle school. My students are full of passion for learning. I have already seen them grow through vocabulary games, extended writing, and literature study.
The energy and positive attitudes of my students just blow me away.
They are creative and always accept a challenge. After some tough years of teaching, these kids make my heart happy and make me feel positive every day. I would love to show my appreciation by providing something that will really enhance their learning environment.
My Project
A love of reading needs to be nurtured in middle school to build life-long readers. This will not only enrich students' lives but help them with literacy skills throughout their academic careers.
When students see themselves reflected in literature, it builds their self-esteem.
These books reflect many cultures and life experiences to appeal to my students. Books with Latinx and African American protagonists will expand our classroom library to be more inclusive. The graphic novel selections are to encourage struggling readers. Other books are representative of cultures from the rest of the world. This will draw students in and help them realize reading is for everyone.
