This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year, I am teaching my students about the different genres of literature through using picture books and mentor texts. A large portion of my students are English Learners or emerging bilinguals, which means picture books is the best way for them to be able to analyze a text as a class. The books I've included will cover our Personal Narrative unit, and parts of our Informational Text and Realistic Fiction units. These books will allow my students to see themselves in literature, learn about other cultures and historical events through these books and create a lifelong love for reading.
