This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A safe place. A new home. A fresh start. A place for everyone. Welcome Back to School! My name is Ms. L and I am the special education teacher in an ICT classroom in Queens, NY. I have twenty three eager beavers that are looking forward to being in the classroom, some of them for the first time ever! My class is filled with diverse learners, however despite their abilities they all come to school ready to learn. Our job as educators is help them see their worth as students and to always know that mistakes help them grow!
My Project
My goal this year is for my students to see themselves in books. In order for my students to see themselves in books, a social emotional multicultural library is in need. By creating a read aloud library that represents my class, my students will be able to make connections to the stories. Children enjoy reading more when the books come alive for them and they are ale to connect to them. This fosters By seeing vital reading skills like comprehension and establishes a healthy rapport with reading. The key ingredients to learning this school year is to understand feelings and emotions, to have readers see themselves in stories and to learn different perspectives from their peers. These books will be able to foster healthy conversations and take us on new adventures!
